Renewing your Idaho Driver’s License

How do I renew my Idaho Driver’s License and what tests do I have to take?

An Idaho driver’s license may be renewed every 4 or 8 years if the driver is between the ages of 21 and 62. A four year license costs $30 and an 8 year $55. If the driver is over the age of 62 the license must be renewed every 4 years. An Idaho driver’s license may be renewed in person or by mail. If you choose to renew in person it will be necessary to pass a vision test. Online renewing is not available.

Preparing to Renew Your New Idaho Driver’s License

It is possible to get the necessary form at a DMV office ahead of time so it will be ready to go. Then gather all other necessary documents as well as the fee.

Driving with a Idaho Learner’s Permit

In the state of Idaho a new driver that holds an instruction permit must always have a supervising adult at least 21 years of age that is a licensed driver accompanies them. This person must sit beside the new driver and all passengers must be buckled up. The new driver must log 50 hours of driving time 10 of which must be at night to be eligible for a permanent Idaho driver’s license.
